Flies, iPhones, Booze, Paint!

Sounds a bit like an opening at a university-town “alternative art” gallery, but it’s just Jeff Kennedy’s blog, “Drawing Flies 365.” And yes, all of the above can be found on the blog—first page, actually.
I first met Jeff when he was just starting with his “365 flies” idea (that is, drawing or painting or sketching or sculpting (or whatever-ing) a fly a day for a year). As a fellow artist (or at least illustrator), I liked Jeff’s spontaneity and, of course, subject matter.
Some really cool things eventually came of Jeff’s idea (the 365 flies are done now, archived at the blog), and his work caught the attention of more than just a few angling-art junkies.
Jeff’s efforts now hang in various private collections, and even appear on vodka and wine bottles (including Superfly Silver Hilton vodka, which is itself fly-themed). And if you’re an iPhone or iPod Touch user, Jeff has just the screen background for you.
Jeff is continuing his work on the blog (although not quite at the fly-a-day rate), and is looking for fly suggestions. Got an idea for a fly to draw (or create in just about any medium you can imagine)? Visit 365 and let Jeff know.
